5. Eowyn/Faramir, Lord of the Rings
how much do I love this look that they give each other? So much.
When I first read the trilogy, I was spoiled about this pair before I even opened ROTK. And I remember thinking, “…what? Really? How come that sound like its coming out of nowhere??” But then I read “The Steward and the King.” And it totally does NOT come out of nowhere. They’re both so messed up inside at that point, but its oh so sweet. They need each other. And they’re a perfect match.
4. Aragorn/Arwen, Lord of the Rings
Um. Why am I having difficulty describing these two to y’all? Maybe because they’re just so perfect together. Though they’re the unlikeliest ship that ever did sail…as Cairistiona put it the other day, “a romance between a courageous king too long denied his throne and his immortal fiance queen.” You wouldn’t ever think that their love would be able to endure all the hardship it goes through. But it does, and it’s beautiful.
Words cannot describe the love I have for these two characters individually, so once you put them together…omigiggers. I could watch the scenes with them on the Millennium Falcon in ESB until the cows came home. The snark, the verbal sparring, and CAN WE TALK about the chemistry????? Aaaaaaaaagh love. And then in RotJ when Han is so adorably jealous and overprotective and then in the books when they wind up married…=D =D =D.
2. William Adama/Laura Roslin, Battlestar Galactica
Someone care to explain to me how in the midst of all the young hot relationships in Battlestar I ONLY HAD EYES FOR THESE TWO OLDish ONES?!?! Anyone who has been following my Battlestar squeeage will know that I have been waiting for these two to acknowledge their love on screen for SOOOOOOOOOOOO long. THEY ARE SO PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER AND SO FRIGGIN ADORABLE OH MY GOD. Yes, I know that as the President and the Admiral of the fleet they couldn’t keep their relationship anything other than professional. But that didn’t stop me from literally running around the house squealing with glee when she finally told him she loved him in Season 4. And then when they finally slept together. AAAAGH. Really, these two should be my number one OTP. Except…
Nothing, and I repeat, nothing will ever top these two. Because their story has tugged at my heartstrings from day one. And the depth of their love--that it endures despite their epic differences, that they both go to such lengths to save each other, see each other just one last time, is heartbreaking and beautiful and wonderful all at once. And in the more lighthearted moments, can we TALK about how adorable they always are? I know that there are some people who don’t like Rose very much. But even then, how could you not love the dynamic that they have? The banter, the devotion, the amount of chemistry you can put in to a single HANDHOLD? Love. So much love. Always love.

on 2010-02-14 06:08 pm (UTC)I have to say you've made me even more curious about Dr. Who now! ;-) The LotR pairs of course would be on the top of my list, too, and I completely agree about Han and Leia! They are so perfect together! :)
