I think all parties involved wouldn't be a fan of the cousins thing.
Ah - now I would see them regarding it as a perfectly reasonable thing - that in fact, if Gilraen's bloodline is a good one, they would be more than happy for the next chieftain to marry his cousin. I think this is because I always see the Dunedain as being 'English' like the hobbits are and, of course, marriage to first cousins is perfectly acceptable both now and historically.
