Day 14
In your own space, write a love letter. Write it Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, or to your flist. Share you love and squee as loud as you want to. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I cheated. I wrote four letters. I couldn't help myself.

Dear Aragorn,
I'm going to start out really inappropriately and say that I'm pretty sure that first glimpse of you in the Prancing Pony sparked my sexual awakening at age twelve. But hot scruffy Ranger attributes aside, let's get to the real reason why you've been my favorite denizen of Middle-Earth from start to finish. I've always been a sucker for those heroes who are a little rough around the edges, and though your heart's as noble as they come, it is couched in a bit of a rascally demeanor for that first chapter or two of Fellowship. I love, though, that it doesn't take too long to see your true self--that description Tolkien's got of you in the Appendices has stayed with me for a long time: "yet hope dwelt ever in the depths of his heart, from which mirth would arise at times like a spring from the rock." I love you for your mirth, I love you for your steadfastness, I love you for your loyalty to family and country. My desire to write and read stories about you was what pitched me into fandom, and it's because of you that I've stayed in Tolkien fandom for so long. May you continue to inspire us forevermore, Telcontar, you troll.
Love,
Suzanne
Dear Bruce,
You got me through a really rough time. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive myself and trust my own strengths.
Love,
Suzanne
Dear Eowyn,
When I think of you now, I think of that quote of Sam's from the end of The Two Towers: "those were the stories that stayed with you--that meant something, even if you were two small to understand why." When I first read your tale, I was too small to understand just why it struck such a chord with me, why it resonated in the way that it did. I latched onto you as the one mortal woman with a part to play in Lord of the Rings, but I knew it was something more than that--I just couldn't articulate it at the time. Now, I am your age (weird to think, huh?), and I think now I finally understand. I admire your strength so much--and I'm not talking about your physical strength (although dang, lady, I couldn't kill a Witch-King anytime, anywhere). I'm talking about your ability to carry on through so much hardship, to persevere through all that life threw at you. I'm talking about your leadership capabilities, which shine through so clearly. I love your passion for your people, for your family, for Rohan, and I love that you still managed to stay true to yourself throughout it allYou stood by your duty to your people, but knew to trust your own judgement as to where you would be needed the most. And in the end, you saved so many. Young girls need heroes like you, even if they're too small to understand quite why.
Love,
Suzanne
Dear Gilraen,
You break my heart. I love you. I hope I do you justice in my stories.
Love,
Suzanne
